Mrs. Durham, 76, Dies at Windfall; Rites to Be Friday
Windfall.–Mrs. Maryann Elizabeth Durham, 76, a native of Tipton county and for many years a resident
of Windfall, died at 2:30 a.m. today at her residence. She had been in failing health for several months and
had been critically ill since Monday.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at 1 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Lee Goins, a former
Pilgrim Holiness church minister, officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery in Windfall. The body was
taken to the S. S. Edwards funeral home and will be returned to the residence Thursday morning.
Mrs. Durham was born at Normanda, March 16, 1868, the daughter of Benjamin and Sally Ann Berry.
She was married to John W. Durham on Sept. 18, 1882. He died Sept. 13, 1938.
Early in life, Mrs. Durham became affililated with the Hopewell Methodist church east of Normanda
but later she joined the Hazel Dell Friends church, east of Windfall.
Survivors are three sons, William Durham of Fortville, David Durham of Elwood and Jay Durham of Windfall;
two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Coleman of New Castle and Mrs. Grace Fisher of Windfall; 14 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Berry of South Bend, and one sister, Mrs. Cora Dillinger of Los Angeles, Cal.
One daughter, Mrs. Maude Van Doran, died in 1918. Six of Mrs. Durham's grandsons are in service and
five are overseas.
