Elmer Coleman Dies at Age 87
Elmer Coleman, 87, 2411 Spring St., died Monday afternoon in Rest Haven Nursing Home after an extended
illness. A native of Tipton County, he had lived in Henry County the past 50 years. He was a farmer and retired
carpenter.
He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church in Tipton County.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bertha Coleman; a sister, Mrs. Emma Swing of Kokomo; a half-sister, Mrs.
Edna M. Richey of Twelve-Mile; a half-brother, Fred Coleman of Kokomo; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Main and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. W. M. Gardner officiating.
Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery at Windfall. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Tipton County Native Dies in New Castle
Elmer Coleman, 87, of 2411 Spring street, New Castle, died Monday in the Rest Haven Nursing
home. He had been at the rest home the past month.
A native of Tipton county, he had resided in Henry county for the past fifty years. He was
married to the former Bertha May Durham of Tipton county, who survives him. He was a retired farmer and
a carpenter. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist church in Tipton county.
Survivors include the widow; a sister, Mrs. Emma Jane Swing of Kokomo; a half sister, Mrs.
Edna M. Rickey of Twelve Mile; and a half brother, Fred Coleman of Kokomo.
The body is at the Mains funeral home in New Castle where friends may call.
Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. W. M. Gardner
will officiate. Burial will be made in Brookside cemetery in Windfall.
