Held For Desertion
Charged with deserting his two-year-old child, Doris, Thomas Carhart, 23 years old, of East Trenton Avenue,
was held in $500 bail for the Grand Jury by Judge Brennan in Police Court today. Carhart was brought back from Fort
Slocum, N. Y., yesterday by Detective Donahoe. He had enlisted in the army and had made application for duty in the
Hawaiian Islands, claiming to be single.

Thomas D. Carhart
HAMILTON – Thomas D. Carhart, 76, died Tuesday in Hamilton Hospital.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Carhart was a lifelong area resident.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers Union Local No. 301 of Trenton, and worked with the Hamilton
Township Board of Education, and the D'Agostino Brothers when they painted the White House in Washington.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy C. Carhart; two daughters, Eleanor M. Takach, and Doris M. Morris, both of Trenton; two sons, John F. Cody
of California, and Robert E. Cody of Syracuse, N.Y.; a sister, Anna Malkowski, and a brother, Harold Carhart, both of Hamilton; and several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held under the direction of the Saul Memorial Home, 1740 Greenwood Ave. Burial will be at the convenience
of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
