Davis Denies That / He's Among The Dead
Editor Sunday Times-Advertiser:
Dear Sir–In your issue of February 1, the statement was made that Mrs. Clara Davis of 112 Ewing Street was going to Wilmington, Del., to collect
$1,000 relief money on the death of her husband William B. Davis, who was said to have been killed in Wilmington while working for the P. W. & B. Railroad.
I would like to state, Mr. Editor, that I am very much alive and that I have never worked for the P. W. & B. or any other railroad. I am sorry that Mrs. Clara
Davis and her friends will not have the pleasure of spending the $1,000 at my expense, and I would also like to state that when the time comes to collect my
benefits it will be Mrs. Margaret Davis, to whom I have been married 17 years next July and who is named as my beneficiary on all policies, who will do the
collecting and not Mrs. Clara Davis. Hoping you will publish this so that my many friends in Trenton will know I am still in the land of the living, I remain,
Respectfully yours,
WILLIAM B. DAVIS
