Cora C. Breece
Funeral services for a former resident, Mrs. Victor C. Breece, 86, who died Oct. 14 at a Winter Haven,
Fla., nursing home, were held Monday at the Winchester Funeral Home. The Rev. David W. Yingling of the United Methodist
Church officiated. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery.
Born at Charlevoix Aug. 11, 1896, the former Cora Driggett was graduated from the Charlevoix High School
and the Charlevoix Normal School and later received a degree from the Ypsilanti Normal School, now known as Eastern
Michigan University. She left Charlevoix in 1917 to teach in Flint. She was married to Mr. Breece at Angola, Ind.,
in 1934. They resided in Flint until recent years. They had spent the summers in Alden for many years and had returned
to Charlevoix to make their home. They had lived in Florida for the past two years. She was a member of the United
Methodist Church in Charlevoix, Michigan Education Association, National Retired Teachers Association, American Legion
Auxiliary in Flint, Past Presidents Club of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. James (Nancy) Sawtelle of Key West, Fla.; three grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren and a half-brother, James Driggett of Charlevoix.
