Dr. Agnes I. Durham
Dr. Agnes I. Durham, 55, of Morganville, N.J., formerly of Bridgeton,
died Tuesday morning September 5, 2006 in the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, N.J.,
where she had been a patient for seven days. Her death was sudden and unexpected.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Hughee and Agnes (nee Cuff) Durham,
and had been a resident of the Morganville area for the past 37 years.
Dr. Durham attended the Bridgeton public schools and was Valedictorian of the Bridgeton High School class of 1969.
After high school she attended Douglas College, New Brunswick, N.J., majoring in psychology.
She graduated third in her class with the distinctive honor of Magna Cum Laude.
Her doctorate work was also done at Douglas, where she earned her degree in Clinical Psychology
and was again the third in her class. She had her private practice in the Morganville area
and had previously worked for several hospitals in the North Jersey area as Clinical Psychologist.
She was an avid vegetable gardener and always enjoyed cooking and entertaining with friends.
She especially had a love for her dog "Baby Face".
Survivors include her brother Bruce A. Durham and his wife Sally of Bridgeton,
two nieces Brooke Shepard of Bridgeton and Beth Griffith and her husband Clairmont of Maryland,
grandnephews Jaden Shepard and Alex Griffith, and several godchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at noon from Trinity A.M.E. Church, Gouldtown,
with the Rev. Dr. Michael Keen and the Rev. Alvin Stokes officiating.
The interment will take place in the family plot in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Township.
Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 11 a.m. to noon at the church prior to the services.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave.
