David Durham Rites Planned
A Tipton county native died at the Mercy hospital in Elwood Sunday of complications following
a lengthy illness.
Services are set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for David L. Durham, 72, of Elwood. The Rev. T. J. Hammes
will be in charge of the services at the St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elwood. Burial will be at the
Elwood Catholic cemetery.
The deceased was born in Tipton county Nov. 25, 1885 to John W. and Mary Ann Elizabeth (Berry)
Durham. He married the former Lenora A. Gavin in 1908, and she died on Feb. 9, 1939.
The Tipton born man was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and the Eagles lodge in Elwood.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Durham, of Elwood, Mrs. Betty Quade, of Gary and Mrs.
Helen Zimmerman, of Kokomo; and two sons, Harold Durham, of Anderson and Eugene Durham, with the United States
Navy in Cuba.
Also surviving are two brothers, William Durham, of Fortville, and Jay Durham, of Windfall; and
two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Coleman, of New Castle and Mrs. Roy Fisher of Windfall. Ten grandchildren also survive.
The body will lie in state at the Copher and Fesler funeral home in Elwood until the funeral.
