LAWRENCE S. DURHAM
Lawrence S. Durham of Dover died Monday, April 4, 2005 in his home. He
was 80.
Mr. Durham was born in Dover to the late Benjamin and Anna M. Durham. He
worked as a farmer for the Gibe Farms for 29 years. Worked for
Garrison's Lake Golf in their grounds maintenance crew, and then worked
for the Capitol School District for 13 years as the foreman of their
grounds crew. He retired from the school district in 1989 after 13
years.
Mr. Durham was a member of the Immanual Union United Methodist Church,
where he served as the President of the trustee's board for 36 years. He
was an avid hunter, loved gardening, working with and repairing small
engines, and most of all loved bragging about his children,
grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mr. Durham is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith Reed Durham; two
daughters, Sheila Darlene Mosley of Bridgeton, N.J. and Wanda Parton of
Dover, Del.; two sisters, Lillian Coker and Marian Carter both of Dover;
four grandchildren, Dale Pierce of Pittsgrove, N.J., Chuck Mosley of
Bridgeton, N.J., Allen Mosley of Millville, N.J., and Lesley Combs of
Dover; 7 great grandchildren, Beverly Ricci of Vineland, N.J., Ashley
Mosley of Bridgeton, Arieonna and Adora Mosley of Millville, Jae'Lynn
Combs of Dover, Marc Terron and Allie J. Mosley both of Millville. Also
surviving are; two great-great grandchildren, Savannah Payne of
Vineland, and Vince Saunders III of Bridgeton.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 in the
Immanual Union Unite Methodist Church, 756 Main St., Cheswold, Del.,
where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will
be in the Immanual Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be
sent to Immanual Union U. M. Church, P.O. Box 309 Cheswold, Del. 19936
or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, Del. 19901.
