John Everling Dies Today At His Home
  John D. Everling, 82, route four, Fairground Road, Elwood, died suddenly at his home this morning.
  He was born Dec. 25, 1888, the son of William and Ella Everling. He married Hattie Moore Dec. 26, 1906. She died Sept. 31, 1968.
  Everling was a life-long resident of Madison County. He was a farmer and a member of the Eagles Lodge.
  He is survived by five sons John of route one Windfall, Ronald of route four Elwood, Lawrence of route three Elwood, Harold of route four Elwood and Frank of route one Windfall.
  He is also survived by five daughters Mrs. Gertrude Hahn of route three Elwood, Mrs. Lois Singer of Anderson, Mrs. Opal Witham, of route four Tipton, Mrs. Mary VanBriggle of route two Elwood, and Mrs. Jean Martin of Orestes.
  He is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Maude St. Clair of West Elwood, Eve Carlin of Elwood, Mrs. Lou Perogo of California and Wayne Everling of Elwood.
  Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
  Funeral rites are pending at Copher and Fesler funeral home.
