Howard D. Ledbetter
Howard D. Ledbetter, 61, 213 Garfield Drive, a former resident of Fortville, died early Thursday morning at
Community Hospital, Indianapolis, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Ledbetter, a native of New Castle, was born May 11, 1919, the son of Mrs. Lola (Bowman) Ledbetter,
Muncie, who survives, and the late George Ledbetter. He had lived in the Greenfield area for the past four years.
A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. Ledbetter was a member of the Fortville posts of the American Legion and
Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had attended the Fortville Christian Church.
Mr. Ledbetter had retired in January 1975 from Plant 10 of the Delco Remy Division of General Motors,
Anderson, following 35 years of service.
Surviving besides his mother, are his wife, Betty (Durham) Ledbetter; a son, Steven Ledbetter, St. Louis;
a daughter, Mrs. Karen Martin, Greenfield; six grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Wolfe, Muncie, and four brothers, Robert Ledbetter, Muncie, Bernard
Ledbetter, New Castle, and John and Myron Ledbetter, both of Portland.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, in 1971.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Ronald Seals Funeral Home, Fortville.
