Short Illness Proved Fatal / Mrs. Ida (Tyler) Durham Died at Home in Prairie Township Wednesday. / Funeral Is Friday
Mrs. Ida (Tyler) Durham, 63, wife of Ellsworth Durham, residing two and one-half miles northeast of the
Prairie school, died Wednesday morning after an illness of only three days from a severe cold and other troubles. For
some time Mrs. Durham had not been in good health. She suffered from diabetes, but had been able to be up and around
and attend to her household work.
The death of this good woman was a severe shock to relatives and friends as she was an exceptionally well
like woman and it was hard for many to realize she had been summoned by death.
Funeral services are to be held at the Liberty Baptist church of which she was a long time member, Friday
afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. Harnie Hasley, pastor of the church officiating. The body will then be taken to the
Crown Point cemetery at Kokomo for interment.
The deceased was born in Prairie township January 2, 1874, a daughter of John and Mary Elizabeth McGraw
and was married April 18, 1898, to Newton Tyler, whose death occurred November 7, 1915. Two children born to that
union survive, Alonzo Tyler of Kokomo, and Emily Tharp of Delphi.
July 17, 1925, she was united in marriage to Ellsworth Durham who survives with the two children. There
are also nine grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the home until taken to the church for services and friends are invited to
call at any time.
