  Walter Miller
    Walter "Scoop" Miller, 84, of 1704 J St., died today, April 11, 1987, at his home.
    He was born June 17, 1902, in Otis, Ind., to Charles and Ida (Ziemke) Miller. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
    He was retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, of which he was a 30-year member.
    On Dec. 21, 1946, in LaPorte, he married Kathryn Eckstein LeDoux, who survives.
    Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Piech of South Bend; three sons, Gene and Jack Miller, both of LaPorte, and Dwuane LeDoux of Boston, Mass.; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Shelby of LaPorte; and a brother, Carl, of Rolling Prairie.
    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Miller, five brothers and two sisters.
    The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Haverstock's Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Rhine officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
    Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Sunday and on Monday until the service hour.
