Fern Perkins
Alexandria, Ind.–Fern (Hitchens) Perkins, 72, Alexandria, died July 6, 1997, at Community Hospital.
She was born July 6, 1925 in Alexandria, the daughter of Edward Frank and Erma Arietta (Allen) Maynard.
She lived in Alexandria all of her life.
She worked as a sales representative for Indiana Bell for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Alexandria, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club,
Association of Widowed People in Alexandria and served as a Pink Lady for the auxiliary of Community Hospital for
several years.
Survivors include her husband, Chester Perkins of Alexandria; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Hitchens)
and Gary King of San Diego, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Minnie M. Maynard of Alexandria; four sisters
and three brothers-in-law, Darlene and Floyd Gill of Alexandria, Janice and Ron McPhearson of Alexandria, Evelyn and
John Teague of Alexandria and LaVera Brown of Alexandria; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mace Hitchens, who died March 31, 1992; a brother, Raymond
(Bud) Maynard, who died Aug. 20, 1995; and her parents, Edward Frank and Erma Arietta (Allen) Maynard.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Alexandria, with with the Rev. Cliff Richardson
