Myrtle Avery
Mrs. Myrtle Avery, 1213 South G street, died Friday at Mercy hospital. It was her 77th birthday.
She was born Dec. 24, 1898 [sic] to Joseph and Alice Durham Moore. She had resided in Elwood all her life
and was a retired employee of Mangas Cafeteria.
Mrs. Avery was a member of the First Nazarene church and was married to William Avery in December 1913.
He died in 1958.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Brotherton of Florida and Mrs. Betty Miller of Greentown;
two sons, William of Elwood and Ray of Frankton; two sisters Mrs. Dorothy Shaw of Markleville, and Martha Penzes
of California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jackley Landrum funeral home with the Rev.
Charles Langford officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood city cemetery.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. today.
