Dr. Fleming Norris, A Prominent Dentist
East Paterson - Funeral services will be Saturday for Dr. Fleming H. Norris Jr., 65, of 511 River Drive,
who died Monday at Paterson General Hospital. He was a prominent area dentist.
Dr. Norris was a past president and charter member of the Rotary Club, a past president of the Boys Club,
the Board of Health, and the first chairman of the Blood Bank. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and the
Community Club.
The public and parochial school dentist, Dr. Norris started the Dental Clinic at St. Leo's School and
donated the chair, unit, and his services to this clinic. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Paterson,
the American Dental Association, the Bergen County Dental Society, the National Dental Association, and Sigma Pi Chi.
He was born in Petersburg, Pa. [sic] and graduated from Howard University in 1924. He began his profession
in Petersburg and came her in 1928.
Surviving are his wife, the former Getrude Curtis; three sons: Dr. Fleming H. Norris III of this borough,
Dr. A. Curtis Norris of Hawaii, and Dr. Arthur L. Norris of St. Croix, V.I.; five grandchildren; three brothers: Dr.
Granville Norris of Petersburg, Herbert of Cleveland, Ohio, and Verdelle of Philadelphia; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy
Turner of Philadelphia and Mrs. Ethel Davis of Alexandria, Va.
Services will be at 1 P.M. from Conte's Funeral Home, 274 Market Street, with the Rev. Louis Berry of Newark
officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call tomorrow and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
