- Babe in the Boiler
Two-Year-Old William Parson Frightfully Burned in Scalding Water at Home.
William, the two-year-old son of James Parsons, of 136 Tremont street, was frightfully burned shortly before
noon today by falling headlong into a wash boiler filled with boiling water.
The little fellow is now in a precarious condition and Dr. Struble, who was hastily summoned, does not
entertain much hope for his recovery.
Mrs. Parsons, the mother of the child, was washing clothes at the time of the accident and she did not notice
that Willie had toddled near the boiler.
Her attention was attracted by a splash and she turned to see her boy immersed in the steaming water. When
pulled out his flesh had been cooked from the chin to his feet and it peeled off in chunks.
Dr. Struble did all in his power to alleviate the little victim's agony. [Trenton Times, 26 Nov 1901] - Baby Died From the Burns
