Relatives in Windfall received word Tuesday of the death at North Vernon of Oliver Perry Sprong, 82 years
of age, and for many years a resident of the Windfall community. Death occurred at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nellie
Phillips, where he had been making his home for some time.
Several years ago the aged man met with an accident in which his hip was broken and since that time had
been failing.
The body is being brought back for services and burial and the funeral will be held at the Friends church
in Phlox, Thursday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, with Rev. Mrs. Fanny Roberts Gentry officiating. Burial will be in the
Ellis cemetery north of Windfall.
The deceased was born in the Phlox community, being a son of William and Ellen Sprong, and when a young
man was united to Miss Mary Durham. The wife died several years ago and is buried in the Ellis cemetery. The late
Mrs. Mary Summers and Mrs. Emma Overman of the Windfall community were sisters.
Surviving relatives are the daughter at whose home he passed away and three sons, Delver Sprong residing
near Muncie, Earl Sprong of Gas City, and Paul Sprong of Detroit, Mich. He is also survived by a number of
grandchildren.
The deceased was a man who during his long residence in the Windfall community had the confidence and respect
of all and his passing will be mourned by many.
