    COLLETTE, CLARA C., 86, of Atlantic City, died Sunday, March 17, 2002 in Kindred Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, she was a resident here for 75 years.
    Mrs. Collette was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church in Atlantic City, and had a special love for her pastor and church members. She was formerly a member of Community Baptist Church under the late Rev. A. L. Morris.
    Along with her husband, John, she was the co-owner and operator of J&C's Restaurant and Grocery Store on Massachusetts Avenue in Atlantic City, for many years.
    Mrs. Collette was predeceased by her husband, John; her mother, Florence Townsend, and her brothers, Milton Russell and Remson Townsend.
    Surviving are: her daughter, Anna L. Gallagher and husband, Maurice, and family of Atlantic City; her son, William E. Howell, Sr. and wife, Betty, and family of Atlantic City; two stepchildren, John W. Collette, Jr. of Atlantic City and Judith Collette Holland of Pleasantville; a sister-in-law, Katherine Townsend of Atlantic City; a niece, Barbara Camper and family of Atlantic City; a nephew, Richard Townsend and family of East Orange, a devoted companion, James Beasley of Atlantic City; two cousins, Elizabeth Causey and Bernadette Whorton, both of Camden, 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 22 great, great grandchildren.
    Services will be held 11am Saturday, March 23, 2002 in the New Hope Baptist Church, 704 Lexington Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 10AM. Burial will be in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville. Arrangements are by Greenidge Funeral Home.
